CHRISTIAN WEIR SECURES IMPRESSIVE VIR PODIUM IN DEBUT FOR RACING TO END ALZHEIMER’S

DANVILLE, Va. | July 29 2025 – Driver Christian Weir delivered a breakout performance during the 2025 Toyota GR Cup North America race weekend at Virginia International Raceway (VIR), securing a brilliant third-place podium finish in Race 2 while raising national awareness for a vital cause.

Driving the No. 71 Toyota GR86, the weekend marked the official on-track debut of Weir’s seasonal partnership with the non-profit organization Racing to End Alzheimer’s. The car prominently featured the charity’s signature branding, carrying the names of individuals affected by the disease to honor them at 140+ mph.

Weir utilized his extensive knowledge of the challenging 3.2-mile, 17-turn natural terrain road course to slice through the field. After battling intense summer heat and fierce wheel-to-wheel competition, Weir crossed the finish line in a strong fourth position. Following a post-race 5-second time penalty assessed to a forward competitor for an on-track infraction, Weir was officially promoted into third place. The result marked his first podium finish of the 2025 campaign and the second of his GR Cup career, giving the Racing to End Alzheimer’s program a trophy in their very first weekend together.

“VIR is one of my favorite tracks, and while we crossed the line fourth, we put ourselves in the exact position we needed to be in to capitalize on the podium,” said Weir. “The car felt amazing. Fighting at the front was a blast, but more than anything, it is a true honor to drive for Racing to End Alzheimer’s. Bringing home a trophy for a cause that means so much to so many families is the perfect way to start this partnership.”

The stellar weekend builds vital momentum for Weir as he looks to climb the championship standings heading into the next rounds of the Toyota GR Cup North America season.
